Can the Lobster pinch at the iPhone?

Designs that proclaim to perhaps take aim at the iPhone deserve a look, whether they’re very good or not.  Danilo Mangini a designer from Design+Wave in Italy has come up with this little number, which is called "Lobster":

I found this gadget by way of this post on the Times Eye blog, which has even more pictures of it.  The two lower pieces that you see there on the left are attachable functional modules that you add as you need them.  It’s cool to think about hardware solutions to options and designs that others would try to pack into a single unit, but I’m not going to toss out my iPhone if this goes into production anytime soon.  As for the lobster, it’s supposed to look like the plated pieces of its exoskeleton.  I guess I can see that — not a total stretch.
