Meet Tom’s Jetsam
There’s a new set of Tommy Hilfiger ads that won’t go away. They are some moody fall beach scenes — not unlike the Women and Co. ad from an earlier post. Here’s one that has young college-entrance-exam takers everywhere in a tizzy:

“Flotsam” and “jetsam” are the two words that every person who has faced the SAT or ACT thinks are the most important words in the world after they take their prep courses.
This Tommy Hilfiger bed could be confused as flotsam, because Tommy’s ship sank long ago, but for me it’s definitely some jetsam because I’m going to take it and jettison it off the Rapidship.
Didn’t Tommy see the raft get destroyed in Lost? This company needs to send out an SOS.
These beach people are the flotsam that floated to shore after the wreck:

Did you notice the red Citibank/Travelers umbrella that I mentioned in my post earlier? Lots of recurring themes today.
And how many more times do we have to be subjected to the stupid piano-in-the-wake nonsense in music videos and advertising:

Don’t people know that their pianos don’t know how to not get sucked in by the undertow? This always happens when you take your piano to the beach. Get a dog, people!
Also, if Tommy Hilfiger wanted to double their sales in a year, all they would have to do is have a collection that removes any and all Tommy Hilfiger logos and trademarks. People would buy it if they didn’t feel like a free walking billboard. Look at these:
