Saab touts high-design Scandinavian "Scand-box"

When you were a kid, did you ever think of your sandbox as a square little slice of paradise?  Saab has a new ad from the back of their corporate magazine that builds upon the unexpected aesthetics and escape elements of sandbox:

That vase/mold looks a lot like some Mickey Mouse beach ears, and I’m sure it some kind of expensive jewel that a true aesthete should know.  Maybe it’s just a hunk of glass too.

I think that this ad is successful.  It doesn’t place the car right on the beach, but it plays off of your child-like nature and yuppy core values.  The Saab ad is a dream compared to something like this image from Mercedes:

What a gross image.  Is this what people who refuse to date do as a substitute for human companionship and love?  It’s so shallow — literally.  Get down in that sand and get your knees wet, you car whore.

Did you ever wonder why we use a tropical citrus fruit, the lemon, to refer to bad cars?  Leaves a sour taste in your mouth.  Although Saab still needs to fix some of their small technical glitches in their cars.  Here’s a slogan for them: "Saab: Lease and love. Buy and cry."
