Captain John Mayer off to the Caribbean ~ are you going to be on board his Mayercraft Carrier
I was watching Best Week Ever on VH1.com this weekend, and this commercial popped up for the John Mayer Mayercraft Sweepstakes:
What’s interesting is that you they are really pushing this as a leisure cruise to the Caribbean, but if you go to the website mayercraft.vh1.com, it feels more like you’re enlisting in the the military. Is this a February in the Bahamas or a Bahrain for a two years? Well, here’s the actual ship you’ll be traveling aboard.
I’m not sure if they were having a hard time convincing people that a trip with Admiral Mayer was going to be fun on that beast so they created the palmy beachy commercial to get people a little more excited. So our choices are either that they were going to try to sell the sweepstakes with a really bad pun that plays off a military theme in a time of uncertain war (yay, that’s fun?) or that they were going to use both a bad pun and a beach to really capture our attention.
The bottom line is that there is a select group of people out there that are dying to see the tall guy no matter where he is. They’re the ones who would enlist with Mayer on any adventure. So why the cheapstakes?
If you’re one of those people that I mentioned in the previous paragraph, go here to get your tickets. QUICK! Cruises start at $699 per person.
