Chase cash freedom or merchandise ~ your pick
Chase has their "Freedom" credit card that they’ve been advertising for quite a while now. Its benefits are that it allows you to switch your points back and forth among different options, like cash and travel. Their advertising campaign pulls together some cliche images but with slightly more interesting visual twists than you would expect from, say, the Discover Miles card beach couple (left) running hand in had. Although that card seems to have a good number of benefits also. I personally don’t like Discover’s website and avoid using their card because of it.
In one of several Chase Freedom commercials, they have the Chase logo mutating into a thousand little butterflies (not unlike the tens of Stayfree butterflies in NBC’s Coastal Dreams show). There’s also this one with the mutating island and the couple running around trying to decide what they want:
The newest of the bunch is a little more visually creative, but still alludes to some of the same types of imagery. You can view it here at their website. Here are some stills too:
Notice how their logo pops up and mutates into a beach-umbrella gas station shelter. The colors are very bright and pleasing, somehow creating the illusion that freedom means both green rolling hills and fossil fuels. They even threw in an old VW bug to really put on the flower power. It’s vision that is difficult to accept logically, but it’s at least a little bit more compelling than the fashion-backwards man running around the island in the commercial above wearing a purple shirt, camouflage cargo shorts, and red shoes:
No card can bring you that much freedom. You have to go along with some things society wants.
As for the music you’re hearing, it’s the Rolling Stones, but Chase has also taken it upon themselves to update it with different mixes by the likes of Fatboy Slim, Moby, and The Postal Service. Here them all here.
I have used other Chase cards, and they’re a fairly reliable and competent company. Unfortunately, they send far too many convenience checks each month, and the terms on those checks have gotten progressively worse for the consumer, even if you have an excellent credit rating. But you can still probably find decent deals with Chase overall. Or, if you would consider getting nights in great hotels a bonus, consider the Starwood Preferred American Express Card that I wrote about in another post, which is consistently one of the most popular posts at Rapidsea surprisingly.
