Happy Anniversary to The Atlantic magazine ~ unless that’s the Pacific ~ then you’re in trouble

I have referred to The Atlantic as being tied as my favorite magazine.  Through no fault of its own, it has now become my favorite because Time Warner just nixed Business 2.0 this month (and so generously offered to give us HALF of our remaining subscription in another magazine?).  This comes at a time when The Atlantic is celebrating its 150th year, and the latest ocean wave cover demonstrates a force that’s ready for 150 more.  They even state: "The Future of the American Idea."  This is a biggy:

Just having a magazine that is so subtly named after an ocean could pique the attention of any Rapidsea writer, but to add to it that humongous wave, well, that’s enough to cause fainting.  And on top of that, add the fantastic work of the digital artists at Joe Zeff Design, Inc. who surfed the type across the Atlantic’s photo (and who have many other cool creations that probably deserve mention in another post).

Now, the issue that I’m dealing with is whether or not my favorite magazine actually chose an image of an Atlantic wave.  This one looks more like something you’d find on the North Shore of Oahu than along most of the East Coast of the U.S.  I’m really skeptical of how blue the sky is given that East Coast waves are rarely this big without some nasty weather pushing them.

I’m not saying that it’s impossible, just that it seems unlikely.  Granted, some could argue that The Atlantic is a magazine whose scope covers all of the oceans, but I think that they were really trying to play off of its connection to the Atlantic Ocean.  I want to believe.

After hunting through 13 pages of Google images for "Atlantic Ocean wave," I finally came across a picture of a big one.  It happens to have the words "Pacific Ocean" written right across it though.  A search for "Pacific Ocean wave" has no shortage of massive ones.

Does anybody know where this wave might be from?  I can’t imagine that this photo was taken in Florida.
