The Beach Party at the Threshold of Hell ~ Oct. 19
Rapidsea moviegoers will have the chance to see an indie movie that sounds so bad it must be great starting on October 19th in various cites. According to CNN, it almost didn’t make it into theaters. I’m slightly skeptical, but I’ll give it a try after I get through a serious deadline this weekend. See the link to CNN PR Newswire article for more information about the movie and the cities it will be showing in.
I have to point out one stretch of the truth in the press release. Jamie Bullock is said to have been a part of the TV show "Arrested Development." She was actually only in one episode — playing the role of Barry’s girlfriend according to IMDB. They might be trying too hard to sell people in this press release, which is why I’m skeptical. But even one episode is better than none.
"Arrested Development" was one of the best television series in the past decade. I remember sitting there watching the first episode and realizing that they understood exactly the ridiculousness that this blog also tries to uncover. I couldn’t stop laughing the entire time.
Everyone involved in that show, whether on camera or behind the scenes, just ripped apart escapist tendency stereotypes through the story about wealthy, yacht-going, place makers gone wrong. You either love it or hate it. The first episode is all you need to watch to know if you agree. It’s good for the old Netflix queue. After this Beach Party movie comes out next week, we’ll know if the show rubbed off on Bullock.
