Amazon Baby where escape and paradise are #1 ~ and #2, and #3, and #7, and …

For those of you who very skeptically follow the blog here, you might ask yourself how influential the images are that we open up here for discussion.  Sometimes it even surprises me.  Like last night when NBC aired a commercial for the Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Musical Aquarium Crib Attachment.

At first, I thought it was an interesting little toy, but probably not terribly influential.  Well, I was at least a little bit wrong.  This toy is actually NUMBER ONE on the Amazon baby top sellers list!  And it doesn’t even get more than three stars in its ratings.  Is it just the scene that makes people want it?  Baby escape?

Not only that, but almost every "themed" product in their current top twenty-five could find a home on Rapidsea.  They include: Rainforest Jumperoo, Twilight Turtle, Curious Crab Rattle, Rainforest Bouncer, Stretch the Giraffe, Rainforest Healthy Care High Chair, Kiddopotamus, and Butterfly Garden Papasan Cradle Swing.

The influence of Rapidsea-ready images is increasing not declining, and from the earliest days of life we are shoving these cliches and false lands into our children’s faces.  Many parents may try to use these images to bring awareness to children to help protect the real places we love, but on many levels their frequent use probably leads more to our desire to occupy them than to protect them from human degradation and destruction.

Is that the right path?

Don’t forget that it’s called "Amazon."  Could that have something to do with people’s choices?

I personally think its great that parents are showing their kids visuals of nature! It is an escape for children…its a way to get away from their cribs inside of a house in the middle of a bustling city and into a serene underwater or forest setting.

I found another site where the Ocean Wonders Aquarium got a higher rating (3.6 of 5)….its not the greatest rating but I guess its enough to get a buzz going around the product.

You also mentioned the Rain Rorest Jumparoo. This particular product is great! Not sure why this wouldn’t be on a top seller list. This product got 4.8 out of 5 stars from 320 reviews!

All in all…I think its great that parents are encouraging their kids to think about and appreciate nature scenes from an early age.
