A cell phone is not an ocean or a surf shop, Helio
I have pondered for a long time now why the Korean company Helio would name their mobile power center phone the "Ocean." But the images don’t stop there. The company has put an ad up on BoingBoing for the phones very cool one click search function. See:
This is a really great feature. All you do is start typing and it decides for you that you want to search. It’s great, but if your ad is about cheating at trivia night, why would you want to put in that you’re searching for "Surf Shops"? Even iPhone lovers (yes, me included) would concede that that would be pretty great to be able to get to Google that quick, especially without excess operating system animation. Too bad the Helio is less than visible with silly names like "Ocean" and "Fin" and with weird surf shop searches.
If all of the gadgetmakers could repeat after me, "I will refuse to recede into the crowd of advertisers by trying to market my mobile device with oceans, escape, and paradise." We already spoke with Sprint and Apple (all the way at the bottom). We’re not sure if "Palm" got the message. And the Lobster doesn’t appear to have gotten off the ground yet.
