Google’s Hot Trends Scale ~ the hottest Google trend of all is ‘Volcanic’

Our hearts go out to the people affected by the shootings today at the New Life Church in Colorado.  The event brings more unwanted attention to the church, which was founded by the lei-wearing Ted Haggard, and news of the shootings was bound to be catapulted to the top of the Google search listings.  Google calls the status of of this overwhelming interest "volcanic."  See:

At a level 5 on the popularity scale, what could be hotter than burning hot magma?  Our blog is hosted inside a volcano, so we know that this is very hot.

"On Fire" is one step down on level 4.  "Spicy" comes in at number 3.  "Medium" is a level 2.  And "Mild" is number 1.

According to searchingtheland.com,  Google uses "a very sophisticated algorithm to determine what is ‘hot’."  It’s a great post with a lot of detail.  Check it out.
