Hawai’i Superferry
The Hawai’i Superferry opened up on the 13th of December to some controversy over its environmental impact. The ferry, which runs from Honolulu on Maui to Kahului in Maui, will allow people to take their vehicles with them from island to island. Whether or not you agree that the ferry is a good addition to Hawaiian transportation infrastructure, the image of the ferry is elegant while still providing an air of swiftness:
The manta ray logo, which looks like the inverted ferry, is designed to effectively make the ferry appear as if it naturally belongs in the ocean.
Interestingly enough, the ferry was built by Austral, USA in Mobile, Alabama.
Controversy surrounding the ferry continued this past weekend, when hundreds of people gathered to protest its operation before the environmental impact assessment has been completed. You can read more about the ferry controversy it here.
