Rudy Giuliani’s Last-Ditch Paradise Effort in Florida

I couldn’t help but love this quote from an article called "Giuliani Makes Last-Ditch Effort in Florida" by Bret Schulte at US News and World Report:

"On Sunday, in an arena-size [Cocoa Beach] Ron Jon Surf Shop festooned with psychedelic surfboards and garb for those who hang loose, Giuliani appeared in his signature New York power suit—blue with a blue tie—and delivered a lecture on what it means to be president."

In the paragraph preceding this one, Schulte talks about Giuliani taking the "high road" over the two bickering Republican candidates who are ahead of him currently in polls there.  Ah, yes, the high road of surf shops.

The New York Times also reported on the event.  They had this amazing picture that visually sums up the scene of the event (click here for the article and full size and quality photo by Chip Litherland for The New York Times):

The Ron Jon’s website claims that "Ron Jon Surf Shop is not affiliated with any particular political party or candidate."  Oh.  Okay.  So who chose to host the event there?  Money talks, and we want to be cool!  Let’s host an event at a surf shop chain store.

Isn’t it amazing how fast Giuliani fell from grace as the leading Republican presidential candidate and how quickly McCain trampled over him.

Maybe Giuiliani will just stay and retire in Florida?  Who’s going to break the news to him that he’s not winning and that people are more concerned about feeding themselves right now than about 9/11 2.0?
