FCC approves AT&T purchase of Aloha Spectrum’s 700MHz Holdings
![]()
Yahoo has an article from Grant Gross and the IDG News Service announcing the FCC’s approval of AT&T’s purchase of 12MHz in the 700MHz band of wireless communications from Aloha Spectrum Holdings. This fact apparently shocks few people. We just thought the Rhode Island seller’s name was interesting. Aloha to them.
We reported on this way back in October and tried to understand the island spirit of the deal. Did they also pick up the rest of the beachfront property? Probably not. Let’s hope not at least. Competition good. Unregulated monopoly bad. That auction has topped $18.8 billion, so AT&T may have already done very good for themselves.
