Orbit Maui Melon Mint ‘Just Brushed Clean Feeling’ ~ if you brush your teeth with honey dew juice

If you’re looking to try a new gum, you may want to pick up a pack of Orbit Maui Melon Mint.  It comes in this strange pink and green packaging:

20080212-Orbit-Maui-Melon-Mint

Given that it had been a while since I made myself the guinea pig to paradise advertising, I decided to try it myself.  I have to say that it’s one of the most repulsively delightful taste experiences I’ve ever had.

With each piece, I want to scream and yell in disgust, but then I find myself gnawing on it for an hour, somehow waiting for it to get good.  Then I replace it with a new one.  Everyone else to whom I’ve given a piece has pretty much just headed straight for the trash, spitting it out before even getting it chewy.

If you’re into the fake watermelon flavor of other candies, this is not necessarily going to be a happy experience for you.  It tastes more like a fake honey dew/cantaloupe mixture with a pinch of mint.

If you try this gum, be forewarned that your significant will likely not kiss you.  But no worries because I can pretty much guarantee you’re going to hate it.

And if you somehow find yourself at the store standing next to the hundreds of packages of gum and trying to decide between Maui Melon Mint (a "New Flavor Escape") and the other Orbit flavor Mint Mojito (an "Exotic New Flavor"), choose the Maui Melon Mint.  Getting through two pieces of the mint mojito will prove incredibly challenging for even the biggest guinea pig.

Surely there must be a handful of teenage girls out there who will keep this religiously next to their iPods.

As for the Maui part of this product, I have no idea.  The green wave escapes me too.

Hmmm … I’m still trying to figure out if Orbitz Mint Mojito is the best or the worst flavor I’ve tasted. It’s right on the dreadful/delightful cusp.

Its not completely repulsive. I mean I would rather chew this than your typical spearmint gum.

Once you get through a few minutes of chewing this and the flavor isn’t so “in your face” its a nice mellow gum. Just the first few minutes are difficult.

I usually chew have a piece of gum first then once that half gets too bland I’ll pop the other half in. With this I chew half then chew half of my other half (if that makes any sense) Like I said, the beginning of if is too much. To many flavors flying in at once.
