Sony Bravia ~ bunnies wave to a whale

I didn’t expect this Sony Bravia bunny commercial to resurface this year, but Wired has posted it as one of "The 10 Best Gadget Ads of 2007":

The weird part is that when I originally watched this I figured that it was a bunny ad that would probably have no significance to the Rapidsea cause (even [...]

Vizio TV

Okay, so I went off a while back on TV/screen manufacturers who almost invariably choose to recede into the shelves among their competition by using images of paradise on the fake screens printed on their packaging. Here’s the post. If you head to the TV section of your favorite retailer, you’ll see even [...]

Navy ~ bomb sniffing dogs don’t work underwater

While not quite as amazing as the Navy footprints on the beach commercial, this print ad, from the December 2007 issue of Motor Trend, gets the point across by featuring a piece of technology that few have seen.  The ad is interesting enough to make you want to know more about everything the Navy does.  [...]

HP Mediasmart Home Server

Okay, you spend $2,000 to fly to Tahiti, and you feel so homesick that you have to beam your reruns of Martin and Gilmore Girls to your hotel room:

In other words, you can now escape from your escape by going home whenever you please.  Thanks HP Mediasmart Home Server for making this possible??
God forbid we [...]

GoToMyPC

After the random GoToMyPC beach ads mentioned in this post, we were hoping for something a little more interesting. Well, we got it with this updated Adams Family Thing ad:

Much better. We get it. It works.

Panasonic Toughbook ‘Legally we cannot say’

Panasonic’s whole “legal” campaign escapes some channels of logic. “It would be illegal to tell you what we’re going to tell you.” They’ve been advertising their Toughbook with this new island ad (among others):

Is built in wireless broadband access really that special? “No special designated area or coffee shop needed.” Except, [...]

Bikinis from space ~ Australia’s Bondi Beach

PC World has a picture article called “In Pictures: The Strangest Sights in Google Earth.” One of the images is from Bondi (”bond eye”) Beach in Australia, and they claim that you can read the designer labels of the bikinis. Here’s the Google Earth image:

3D brain island model by Unit Seven ~ new scales for digital elevation models

I’ve been thinking a lot about scale in fake images since writing about the climber, snowboarder, and surfer in the the Pepsi Dare post.  Then along came BoingBoing.net and Unit Seven, a group out of New Zealand, who created this unique drawing:

It’s a brain that has been modeled into an island map and a 3D [...]

‘World’s remotest island’ to get high-tech health care assistance from IBM and Beacon Equity

You may never have heard of Tristan da Cunha, and it is for that reason that you can probably imagine that they don’t have access to the very best medical care in the world.  Now, however, what is known as the ‘world’s remotest island,’ located over 1,600 miles southwest of Cape Town, is getting pro [...]

GE Ecomagination and Admagination

GE has scored a winner with this ad, which appeared in the December issue of The Atlantic (click to enlarge):

One of the most powerful feelings that you can have on an island is when you look around or at glance at your feet and realize the full power of nature that elevated this place above [...]
